
Dr. Janine Stichter is a Professor of Special Education, specializing in behavioral interventions for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and behavioral disorders. Dr. Stichter and her team developed the clinic-based social competence intervention that serves as the curricular basis for iSocial. Her research includes the study of social skills assessment and intervention, methodological issues related to intervention and outcome research, and antecedent interventions on the communication and prosocial behavior of children and youth with behavior challenges. In addition to her role as Co- Principal Investigator on the iSocial Project, Dr. Stichter is currently the principal investigator of a 3-year project funded by the Institute for Education Science to modify the social competence intervention for delivery in school-based settings as another means to increase the reach of this intervention. Doctoral degree in Special Education, with a specialty in Behavior Disorders and Autism at the University of Iowa.
